If you dial your ISO up to the highest setting on your camera you can be prone to odd blue casting "noise" on individual pixels.

RAW format is a format that does not perform any processing on the image and just saves it to the memory card (this requires a lot more space than the typical post-processed and lossily compressed JPEG). The exact format varies between camera makers, so raw format is different from etc.

To explain if I may–most (because I think of one CD / DVD that only has one file), CD or DVD disks have many files on them. To make a copy of one (if it had no copy protection, that is), the computer reads the original disk, one file at a time, and store them onto your hard drive. Then the computer records those files onto a blank disk.

The problem is that one (or more) file(s) can go missing, or they can be restored onto a copy, wrongly, as in, wrong order, etc. To read the files (and need a program to do this)–and it creates one big file on your hard drive that has the extension (name) of whateveryouwanttonameit.iso. So this is one large file, as physically as big as your original disk, and when burned onto a blank disk, the program knows to put little files into correct order.

Try burning the .iso file to a DVD or use mounting software (Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120%) to create a drive to your .iso into. Your computer will show that a new CD drive was installed, but this is really a drive.

RAW image format is usually exclusive to the DSLR cameras. These are the best quality because they are the exact image that the sensor records without any compression and in camera processing. The files are extremely large (like 10 MB per file) and require proprietary software to read the image. Most people only shoot RAW in situations where they want the best image possible and they are willing to post process the image later on. RAW must be to JPEG or TIFF image format before ready for making prints.

Film speed depends on how many little there are on the negative that absorb the light when the shutter opens and close.

ISO100 has a higher quality (more tiny little BUT the difficulty people have with it is that the lighting seems off or it comes out blurry (due to little movement).

ISO800 has a lower quality (larger little BUT the nice thing is that when movement is made, the said absorb the movement which could be related to interpolation.

the higher the speed, the better light is absorbed onto the film through the shutter.

There is loads more information out there on this, but this was just a general understanding of ISO. ALSO as I said pixels above, talking about the little grains that absorb the light on the film. Photography is definitely a fun subject to learn.

It generally comes at the price of a smaller image file and/or much, much more visible noise in the image.

I have found that on P&S cameras that "Expandable ISO" is about useless, however on dSLR cameras, especially if they are FF, the Expandable ISO is much more usable. A real option at times.

(BTW, It is not a hardware accessory as mentioned in your question.)

Pros of higher ISO: Faster shutter speed, meaning less blurry
Cons of higher ISO: YOur image gets "noise". The picture will be grainier and faint colored dots will appear.

The result of the noise is the interference of the sensor itself, so you cannot get away with it.

High ISO will be regarded as anything above 800. I recommend no to go over 400 for good results. Rather use a tripod in low light conditions.

You can also burn the software to a CD directly using Nero or MagicISO or any other CD burning software

Now some photographers go nuts with even a little bit of noise but I feel capturing the event is more than noise. (You can also buy software that helps limit this problem.)

Remember, you probably want to shoot slower than the focal length of your lens…..(50mm 60th of a sec., 125th of a sec….ect.) and squeeze the shutter release "punch" the button. With a little practice be able to hand-hold the camera at slower speeds.
